About Sleep Philosophy

Sleep Philosophy started in Meadville, Pennsylvania with one goal: build bedding that makes a measurable difference in how people sleep. The founders noticed a gap in the market. Most affordable bedding brands cut corners on materials and construction. Premium brands charged prices that put them out of reach for families. Sleep Philosophy set out to occupy the space between those two extremes.

The team selected cotton as their foundation fabric. Cotton breathes. It wicks moisture away from skin. It holds up through hundreds of wash cycles without pilling or thinning. From that starting point, the product designers built a line of mattress pads that combined cotton covers with down-alternative polyester fill, creating a sleep surface that stays cool in summer and warm through Pennsylvania winters.

A partnership with 3M brought Scotchgard stain-release technology into the product line. Scotchgard-treated fabrics repel liquid at the fiber level, giving sleepers protection against spills and accidents without adding a plastic-feeling barrier. This integration became a signature feature across Sleep Philosophy's mattress pads and protectors. You get waterproof performance without sacrificing the soft hand-feel of natural fabric.

Cold-weather customers drove the creation of True North by Sleep Philosophy. This sub-brand focuses on heated bedding and plush materials designed for nights when the temperature drops below freezing. True North products use micro-fleece and sherpa fabrics paired with low-voltage heating elements. The line includes heated mattress pads, heated blankets, and heavyweight flannel sheet sets. Each product carries the same quality standards as the core Sleep Philosophy collection.

OEKO-TEX certification became a priority in the early stages of brand development. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests fabrics for over 100 harmful substances, including formaldehyde, heavy metals, and pesticide residues. Sleep Philosophy submits its products to independent OEKO-TEX labs and earns certification for each textile category. Parents buying crib sheets and families with sensitive skin rely on this certification as proof that no harmful chemicals touch their bedding.

The product range expanded from mattress pads into three additional categories: sheet sets, mattress protectors, and duvet covers. Sheet sets come in cotton percale, cotton sateen, and microfiber options at thread counts ranging from 200 to 600. Mattress protectors use waterproof polyurethane membranes bonded to cotton or polyester tops. Duvet covers feature button closures and interior corner ties that keep your comforter from shifting overnight. Eight distinct product lines now span these four categories.

Fabric innovation continued with the addition of Coolmax and moisture-wicking technologies. Coolmax fibers pull perspiration away from your body and spread it across a larger surface area, where it evaporates faster. Sleep Philosophy integrated this technology into summer-weight mattress pads and pillowcases for sleepers who run hot. The result: you stay dry through the night without switching to synthetic bedding that feels stiff against skin.

Over 30,000 customers have purchased Sleep Philosophy products. The brand maintains a focus on machine-washable construction across every item. Fitted sheets use deep-pocket elastic that accommodates mattresses up to 18 inches thick. Mattress pads feature anchor bands or fitted skirts that grip the mattress corners. These practical details matter to people who change their bedding weekly and need products that survive regular laundering. From the warehouse on Elm Creek Road in Meadville, Sleep Philosophy ships bedding to homes across the country, serving customers who want certified, comfortable sleep at an honest price.
